Guided Tour Cuenca and River Gorge

With our Private Guided Tour Cuenca and River Gorge you will discover one of the most spectacular Old Towns of Spain and its surrounding Karst landscape. It is the best way to learn about this Medieval Town of Cuenca with its famous Hanging Houses.

Our Private Tour is a very comfortable experience, because we´ll pick you up with our Mercedes Benz Van at your Hotel or the Ave Train Station.

First of all we´ll drive you through the spectacular River Huecar Gorge till the Castle District, situated in the Upper Part of Cuenca, so you don´t have to climb up steep hills. From here begins a guided walking tour through the Medieval Town, which was designated a World Heritage Site by the Unesco in 1996.

With our experienced guide Jurgen you´ll discover the most stunning views over the gorges. At the same time you´ll walk down through the narrow streets to the Plaza Mayor, you´ll learn about old histories and legends of this unique historic site.

The River Huécar Gorge

We drive you through the spectacular River Huécar Gorge to the Upper Part of the Medieval Town. We make a short stop at a nice viewpoint to explain the the Karst Erosion. It´s a good spot to make photographs of the historic town.

The Quarter of the Castle

We enter the Medieval Town of Cuenca through the Old Castle Gate. From here we have a nice view over the Júcar River Gorge before we walk down to the old Prison of the Inquisition.

Julián Romero Street

The amazing view over the Medieval Town from the Prision of the Inquisition is agood place to know about the construction of the famous Hanging Houses, the San Pablo Bridge and Convent.
We walk through the narrow street of Ronda Julián Romero to the Plaza Mayor, explaining the history of the most important buildings and the views of this Medieval Town.

Plaza Mayor

We explain the most important building we find here: The Cathedral and the Town Hall.

The Quarter of the Old Alcázar

We have to climb a short flight of steps to the Quarter of the old Alcázar. Arabs, Jews and Christians lived here,.. but what remains of the past? We speak about the history of the old buildings of this quarter. Some were palaces, … what happened with them? We observe the Torre de Mangana, but what´s was its original function before it was a clock tower?

Street Alfonso VIII

From the old Alcázar we walk down to the Street Alfonso VIII. Why are the Houses painted with these red, oranges and yellow colors? And why has the Blue House an entry at the second floor?

The Quarter of the Hanging Houses

We leave behind the beautiful colored houses to enter the interesting Quarter of the Hanging Houses. Here we obsere some very tall houses, but how should we call them? Skyscrapers, or…? We finish our Guided Walking Tour next to the most famous Houses of Cuenca and the San Pablo Bridge.
